Sarah Ortega is a Linguist currently based in Salt Lake City, UT, who has a passion for psycholinguistics and the various branches of applied linguistics. As a specialist, Sarah possesses a combination of technical and critical analysis skills that allow her to develop solutions to open questions within linguistics that she wants to apply to real-world endeavors in forensics and education.

Combines psychology and linguistics by investigating cognitive structures and the mental processes involved in language production and comprehension. This area employs experimental methods and technologies such as fMRI and eye-tracking.

Corpus and Stylistics

Applies modern technologies to language. A corpus refers to a large collection of real-world texts that can be computationally analyzed for linguistic patterns such as collocations. Stylistics combines corpus linguistics with literary and linguistic analysis.

Phonetics and Transcription

Studies human speech sounds and how they are produced. This area investigates the phonatory and articulatory possibilities of the vocal tract in speech. Uses the international phonetic alphabet (IPA) and speech analysis software to transcribe and analyze various speech sounds such as plosives, nasals, fricatives, and diphthongs.
